🎮 How do I play 2048?
Use arrow keys (↑↓←→) on desktop, or swipe on mobile to slide all tiles in one direction.
When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into their sum. For example, 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8.
After each move, a new 2 (90% chance) or 4 (10% chance) appears randomly on the board.
📈 What is the goal of 2048?
The goal is to create a tile with the number 2048.
Once you reach 2048, you have two choices:
- Keep Going —continue playing to reach 4096, 8192, and beyond!
- New Game —start fresh and try to beat your best score.
📊 How does scoring work?
You earn points when two tiles merge. The score added equals the value of the new merged tile:
- 2 + 2 = 4 →you get 4 points
- 64 + 64 = 128 →you get 128 points
- 1024 + 1024 = 2048 →you get 2048 points 🎉
Your Best Score is saved automatically and will be displayed when you return.
🎯 Can I keep playing after reaching 2048?
Yes! After reaching 2048, a victory overlay appears with two buttons:
- "Keep Going" —continue the game, aiming for higher tiles (4096, 8192+)
- "New Game" —restart with a fresh board
The game never truly ends —you can keep playing as long as there are valid moves!
💡 What is the best strategy for 2048?
1. Keep your highest tile in a corner
Pick a corner (e.g., bottom-right) and never move that tile out of it.
2. Build tiles in order
Arrange your tiles so smaller numbers are near the highest tile, making it easier to merge sequentially.
3. Avoid unnecessary moves
Think 2-3 steps ahead. Random moves will fill the board quickly!
4. Keep your board clean
Don't let small tiles (2s and 4s) clutter the board —merge them as soon as possible.
